Celebrating 14 months free from anxiety, depression and all of the related meds I was taking for 12 years. Last May, I went into the jungle and participated in a couple of Ayahuasca ceremonies. For those who don’t know, Ayahuasca is an ancient psychedelic brew you drink that is made up of two types of roots found in the in the Amazon forest. Today, it’s being widely used to help people with conditions like grief, PTSD, depression, anxiety and addiction to name a few. I emerged from that weekend a completely different person: free, happy, grateful, connected to spirituality, and grounded. It took away all my personal guilt, shame and bitterness that I was holding onto. Most importantly, it taught me how to love and value myself for the very first time. I truly feel like I have my life back, and have been given the greatest gift of gratitude and happiness. I kept waiting for it to wear off, and my depression to return, but it just never has. Cuando sientes el llamado de una ceremonia de ayahuasca, es súper importante que lo hagas en el lugar adecuado y con la gente correcta. Para mí, no hay mejor lugar que Madre Verde ni mejores personas que Rubén y Mila. Siempre sentí una conexión profunda, tanto con la selva en sí como con estos seres humanos tan increíbles. La devoción con la que Rubén y Mila abren su pedacito de selva a la gente viene directo desde su corazón, y eso se siente en cada momento.
Participé en varias ceremonias en Madre Verde a lo largo de los años y puedo decir con total confianza que me cambió la vida de maneras que jamás hubiera imaginado. La ayahuasca es una medicina muy poderosa, pero para mí personalmente, es todavía más importante quién y cómo la administra. No hay palabras que le hagan justicia a la profundidad de la sabiduría de Rubén y a la belleza de sus cantos y los de Mila. Guiar un ritual tan poderoso es una responsabilidad enorme, y yo no le confiaría esto a nadie como se lo confío a ellos dos.

Our Spiritual Leader conducted one of the most transformational experiences in my life which has led to my understanding and resolving deep seated issues that years of psychiatry and Western medicine was not able to help me confront. The incredible setting amidst the trees and Cenote while still providing the basic support of space (even floor to lie down on when needed, restroom facilities that were much needed etc), it truly ended up being a rebirthing experience and one I will now recommend to all my near and dear ones.
